THE RENDEZVOUS POINT
We meet on the US side of the border, in front of the McDonalds at the San Ysidro Trolley station. We walk into Tijuana as a group, pass through Mexican customs, then meet our private transportation on the other side. Once aboard, we welcome everyone w/ a mezcal tasting sourced directly to CTH from distillers in Guerrero, Mexico.
Meeting Spot: 727 E San Ysidro Blvd, San Ysidro, CA 92173
EAT. DRINK. REPEAT.
Over the course of the day, our roving supper club will visit our favorite wineries in El Valle de Guadalupe’s vibrant wine making scene. We’ll cap the day off with dinner at one our favorite Baja chef’s campestre restaurant.
ALL GOOD THINGS MUST COME TO AN END
With full bellies + slight buzzes, we’ll head back to the border, where our transportation will drop us off at the pedestrian crossing on the Tijuana side. Well cross through the US Customs on foot. The exit of the facility is right where we started, at the San Ysidro Trolley Station. Border waits can be unpredictable.
KNOW BEFORE YOU GO
CTH's wine country outings to the Valle de Guadalupe are small, intimate gatherings. The outings are an all day affair. We meet at 9:00 AM and generally get back the pedestrian border crossing at about 7:00-8:00 PM. It’s a good idea to have a light breakfast before we meet. While our outings are a casual affair, one might feel a tad underdressed going with informal attire in Mexico’s wine country, as Mexicans dress to the nines while visiting Baja California wineries. Step up your sartorial game to ‘Valle chic’ if you want to blend in. Men wear button up shirts and woman rock blouses or dresses. While the Valle is rustic, with uneven dirt paths at many of the wineries, many Mexicans choose fashion over function, and dress shoes, heels and wedges are more common than not in El Valle.
THE CTH WAY
A blogger once described Club Tengo Hambre outings this way: 'It felt like very cool friends were showing us around their town.' That's what CTH is all about. We are a roving supper club, not a food tour. Our trips are small, intimate gatherings. Our aim is to celebrate both the social aspect of food in bringing people together and the vibrant scene that makes Mexico the best place in the world for street food, craft beer and wine. We want you to bring your friends + make new ones.
