Mexico City Street Food Essentials

For people who love to eat and want to explore the diversity of Mexico City’s street cuisine.

Downtown » Walking food tour » 6 stops » 3.5 hrs

From its street-side stands to its famed taquerias, join Club Tengo Hambre on a whirlwind, food-filled adventure on the streets of Mexico City to devour this street food capital’s quintessential fare.

Club Tengo Hambre’s ‘Mexico City Street Food Essentials’ is the definitive Mexico City street food tour that focuses on regional specialties that you can’t find outside of the city, let alone in other parts of Mexico or beyond. We’ll spend the day on a downtown stroll to dive into the spectrum of Mexico City’s street food diversity.

Since no visit to Mexico City would be complete without trying pulque, an ancient fermented alcoholic beverage once reserved for Aztec royalty, we’ll also make a pit stop at one of the city’s oldest pulquerías.

The tour includes:

  • 6 Mexico City street food stops

  • 1 pulque

  • CTH Host (Bilingual)

  • CTH’s Guide to Mexico City

Severe food allergies and/or strict dietary accommodations cannot be accommodated. Click here to learn about our Dietary Accommodations.

For safety reasons, we do not accept children or anyone under 18 years of age. We welcome families with children on our private outings.

EAT. EAT. REPEAT.

Over the course of the day, we’ll visit our favorite spots in Mexico City’s unrivaled curbside culinary scene for an in-depth overview of the city’s best street food. We’ll also stop at a historic pulquería, for a glass of pulque.

ALL GOOD THINGS COME TO AN END

With full bellies, we’ll finish the outing near Bellas Artes. There, you can grab an UBER, hop on the metro, or spend the rest of your afternoon at Bellas Artes, where murals by Mexico’s master painters Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, José Clemente Orozco + Rufino Tamayo are housed.

BEFORE YOU GO

It's a 6-stop walking outing around Mexico City’s Centro neighborhood, so bring comfortable shoes, as there's a lot of walking involved. There's also a ton of food, so it's a good idea to skip breakfast!

Mexico City’s traffic can be a nightmare of the best of days. We strongly encourage people to use public transportation to arrive at the meeting spot on time. The streets around our meeting spot may be closed for events + demonstrations, which can snarl traffic for the entire city.

The summer months are Mexico City’s rainy season. While the rain normally starts in the late afternoon, well after our outings are through, CTH’s ‘Mexico City Street Food Essentials’ is rain or shine, so be prepared.

THE CTH WAY

A blogger once described Club Tengo Hambre outings this way: 'It felt like very cool friends were showing us around their town.' That's what CTH is all about. We are a roving supper club, not a food tour. Our trips are small, intimate gatherings. Our aim is to celebrate both the social aspect of food in bringing people together and the vibrant street food scene that makes Mexico’s capital city the best place in the world for street food. We want you to bring your friends + make new ones.

Club Tengo Hambre’s ‘Mexico City Street Food Essentials’ outing was, quite literally, decades in the making. Years of food intel went into its curation. Our menu focuses solely on the best of Mexico City’s regional street cuisine.
