For people who want to dive into the world of mezcal and other rare Mexican spirits.

Over the last five years, the coleccionistas at Ahuehuete have traveled the lengths of the Mexican Republic in search of rare expressions of traditional spirits made by Mexico’s master distillers.

The result—one of the largest and most interesting collections of rare spirits in Mexico City.

When the Ahuehuete project proposed a collaboration with Club Tengo Hambre to offer us special access to their private collection room, we couldn’t say no. Their only-in-the-know space specializing in ethically sourced heritage spirits from distilling families in rural communities around Mexico is one-of-a-kind.

None of the bottles are commercial brands and all of the spirits are extraordinary. Most of their bottles are from production runs of a couple hundred liters or less. Mezcal, sotol, raicilla, bacanora, charanda, Mexican rum, tequila, or pox, they have it all.

Join us at Ahuehuete’s private, six-person bar housed in a beautiful 17th Century building in downtown Mexico City for an intimate evening enjoying Mexico’s most exemplary spirits.

We do not accept children or anyone under 18 years of age.

Includes:

  • 6 traditional drinks of your choice from the Ahuehuete collection

  • Ahuehuete host

  • Access to buy bottles from their collection

  • Light bar snacks

  • Bottled water

About the space

Ahuehuete’s collection room is a stunning space housed in a centuries-old building in Mexico City’s oldest neighborhood. The Porfirio Díaz era bar and backbar—found in a Puebla antique store—are over 100 years old.

About the expericence

Over the course of the evening, we’ll dive into Mexico’s diverse distilling traditions via the numerous expressions in Ahuehuete’s spirit collection. From agave distillates aged for years in glass to ceremonial spirits normally reserved for special occasions, you’ll have access to distillations that often never leave the rural communities that make them.

What to expect

The idea behind Ahuehuete’s collection room is about having access to Mexico’s most interesting spirits in an intimate setting. It aims to be the most well-edited Mexican spirits bar in Mexico City, albeit also the smallest one. It’s only 6 seats. Feel free to geek out about spirits with its knowledgeable staff, or just hang out with your friends over rounds of this country’s most exemplary distillations.
